Only Bruce Gillis Days Until USF Football

This is my favorite name on USF's roster, and it's not even close.

Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

#38 DB Bruce Gillis
Redshirt Freshman, 5'10", 184 lbs.

Stats in 2014: Gillis redshirted in 2014 after joining the team as a walk-on.

Spot on Preseason Depth Chart: Hooray for getting to use "Preseason" Depth Chart! But no, Bruce was not listed.

How He Came to USF: From Andrew Jackson High School in Jacksonville. He was a die hard athlete at Andrew Jackson, lettering in both football and track.

Recruiting Rankings: Gillis was not listed by any of the major recruiting services. His spirit proved unbreakable, as he beat the odds and made USF's roster as a walk-on for two straight seasons.

Projected Playing Time: There would have to be Armageddon-level injuries in USF's secondary for Gillis to see the field, but he's still young-- perhaps he can see some playing time on special teams in the future.

Highlights: Here is a very short highlight reel of Bruce from a game at Andrew Jackson. You can see that he's got a sixth sense for locating the ball on both defense and special teams.
