Only Michael Smith Days Until USF Football

This redshirt freshman could be a key cog in USF's offensive line... just likely not in 2015.

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

#63 OL Michael Smith
Redshirt Freshman, 6'3", 319 lbs.

Stats in 2014: Smith redshirted in his first year in Tampa.

Spot on Spring Depth Chart: Not listed.

How He Came to USF: From Miami Central High School, where he was coached by former USF running backs coach Telly Lockette. While Michael was at Central, they won two state championships and reached as high as third in USA Today's national rankings. Smith was an early and solid commit to USF, which turned other schools away, but he did have an offer from Arkansas as well.

Recruiting Rankings: Smith received three stars from all the major recruiting services.

Projected Playing Time: Some of Willie Taggart's young offensive line prospects are beginning to surface on the Bulls' two-deep, but Smith isn't among them right now. Seeing as he's behind peers like Benjamin Knox, Michael Galati and Reilly Gibbons at the moment, it's unlikely he sees major playing time in 2015. But he's among the group that USF hopes will be the future of their offensive line, so his continued progress is vital.
