Only Daniel Awoleke Days Until USF Football Season

#93 received a sixth year of eligibility from the NCAA and returns to help anchor the interior of USF's defensive line and special teams units.

#93 DT Daniel Awoleke
6th Year Senior, 6'5", 283 lbs.

2015 Stats: Daniel played in all 13 games last year as a backup defensive end. He recorded 21 tackles, four for loss, and picked up sacks against Florida A&M and Florida State. Awoleke was also USF's Special Teams MVP, playing on the kick coverage and return teams. He even returned a short kickoff four yards against East Carolina. (He fumbled, but Tyre McCants fell on it.)

Position on Depth Chart: Daniel is listed as a backup defensive tackle following spring practice.

How He Came To USF: Awoleke played defensive lineman and wrestled at Lakeland's Jenkins High School. (That's Jenkins as in George Jenkins, as in the founder of Publix, thus fulfilling our blog's need to mention Publix at least once a week.) Awoleke went to Polk State College in Winter Haven to earn his associate's degree, then moved on to USF and walked onto the football team. He was given a scholarship on the eve of the 2015 season. In March the NCAA gave Daniel an extra year of eligibility for reasons that have still not been explained. But hey, we're not complaining.

Recruiting Rankings: Daniel was not ranked out of high school.

Projected Playing Time: Look for Awoleke to continue spotting Kevin Bronson and occasionally other members of the USF defensive line. He'll continue to be a major part of USF's special teams units as well.
