#50 LB Devon Jones-Stewart
Senior, 6'1", 194 lbs.
NOTE: Devon has changed his number to #29 this season.
NOTE 2: Jones-Stewart is listed as a senior on the USF roster, even though his eligibility would not be exhausted after this season. His first season of college football was 2013, and he sat out 2015, so he could be a redshirt senior in 2017 if desired.
2015 Stats: None. Having played for a different college in 2014, he had to sit out 2015 as a transfer.
Position on Depth Chart: Not listed.
How He Came To USF: From Stetson University, of all places. The Hatters re-launched their football program in 2013. Jones-Stewart joined the new program as a true freshman for their first season since 1956. He appeared in 3 games in 2013, and all 12 in 2014, as a defensive end. He even has a highlight video:
I remember when USF's football team played in games like that, in little stadiums like that. We've come a long way, baby.
Recruiting Rankings: Rivals gave him 2 stars. Jones-Stewart was rated as a 2-star athlete by Rivals and the 235th wide receiver by 24/7 Sports. He had offers from Bethune Cookman, Colgate, FAU, Georgia Southern, and Fordham among others.
Projected Playing Time: With a 4-2-5 scheme and lots of talented linebackers on the roster, it's unlikely. If this truly is his last season, they'll probably find him a few snaps near the end of a blowout, or on Senior Day.
Follow Him On: Used to be on Twitter under @TheStewz, but that account seems to have been deleted.
Fun Fact: Stetson University's most famous football alumni is a fictional character: Ray Finkle, the psycho placekicker in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. Stetson didn't have a football program at the time Finkle was said to have played there (1977-1980). This was probably so the character's backstory would not resemble that of any real football player.
