#41 P Brent Gordon
Sophomore, 6'3", 190 lbs.
2015 Stats: Just when it looked like Gordon might make it through a redshirt year without playing, Mattias Ciabatti was suspended for the Miami Beach Bowl. That forced the coaches to burn Gordon's redshirt and put him into action. He punted seven times for a 39.6 yard average, with four fair catches and one kick inside the 20.
Position on Depth Chart: With Ciabatti graduated, Gordon is listed as the starting punter after spring practice.
How He Came To USF: Brent played at Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, where he did some cool punts for the Mustangs. (We don't know how much or how well because there aren't any stats out there.) He walked onto the USF team last summer.
Gordon also played soccer and lacrosse at Mandarin. And because this is a full-service USF blog, we're giving you Brent's football highlights and his lacrosse highlights. Brent is #42, the punter, and #13, the goalie.
Recruiting Rankings: Gordon was not rated by recruiting sites.
Projected Playing Time: Brent does have some competition at punter (at least according to the depth chart) from Eric Briggs. As long as he keeps the starting position, he'll get plenty of playing time. There's also a pretty clear need for someone to handle kickoffs for USF, but we don't know if Gordon is a candidate there. If he doesn't end up with either job, he does still have a redshirt year to use.
