USF Releases Student Football Ticket Incentives and Rules For FSU Game

You’ll want to go to the first two games to take advantage of these perks. And you’re not bringing your FSU friends into the USF student section, fam.

NCAA Football: Temple at South Florida Logan Bowles-USA TODAY Sports

Today USF Athletics sent out an email regarding the student ticketing process for the massively hyped USF/FSU game on September 24. It’s got some interesting stuff, so let’s break it down.

When will USF Students be able to request their free ticket?

// Students who attend both the Towson (Sep 3) and Northern Illinois (Sep 10) games will be eligible to request their free ticket beginning on Monday, September 12 at 12:00pm.

// Students who attend only one of the first two homes games (i.e., attend Towson but not Northern Illinois) will be eligible to request their free ticket beginning on Thursday, September 15 at 12:00pm.

// Students who do not attend any home game prior to Florida State will be eligible to request their free ticket beginning on Monday, September 19 at 12:00pm.”

The very first thing you see in the email is already interesting. USF is giving the students a pretty big incentive to go to the first two home games. Come to the Towson and Northern Illinois games and it’s a full week earlier that you get to request your tickets for FSU.

Can USF Students purchase guest tickets for the Florida State game?

// Students will have the ability to purchase guest tickets but they will not be located in The Herd Student Section.

If USF Students purchase guest tickets for the Florida State game, how can they sit next to their guests?

// Students wanting to sit next to their guests will need to purchase a ticket for themselves outside of The Herd. In an effort to provide as many seats as possible for USF Students, no guest tickets will be available for purchase in The Herd for the Florida State game.

I see what you did there, USF. Student guests don’t get to sit in the student section, another clever move to make sure the only red in the student section is the seats we’re not going to be sitting in. So to all our friends who go to FSU: YOU CAN’T SIT WITH US.

Also, if you want to sit with your FSU friends, cough up. It can’t be that much, can it?

How much are guest tickets for the Florida State game and where will they be located?

// Guest tickets will be $85 per ticket and will be located in the 200 level nearest The Herd (subject to availability). There is a 14-guest ticket maximum per student.

JESUS CHRIST. The guest tickets for Towson are $15!

How early can USF Students get into Ray Jay for the Florida State game?

// Students who attend both the Towson and Northern Illinois games will be eligible to enter Ray Jay two (2) hours before kickoff (30 minutes before all other students) to access the best seats in The Herd. All other students can enter the stadium beginning 90 minutes before kickoff.

Ohhhhhh, that’s a nice perk. Very, very nice indeed. Towson and NIU are going to be packed because everyone is going to want to get seats on the front row. Also, the line outside the stadium is going to be stupefying.

Where will USF Students seats be located for the Florida State game?

// Due to an anticipated near sellout crowd, The Herd has added seats in the 300 level in addition to its normal north end zone location in the 100 and 200 levels.

How can USF Students guarantee a seat in the 100 or 200 level for the Florida State game?

// No student is guaranteed a 100 or 200 level seat for the Florida State game. Students are encouraged to attend both the Towson and Northern Illinois games to take advantage of the 30 minute early entrance. All seats in The Herd are general admission seating (first come, first served).

The important thing here is that there is likely to be students in the 300 levels, something I’m told by Uncle Jamie and Uncle Collin has happened once or twice before (ed. note: like four or five times, actually). Student seating remains first-come, first-served.

The only question remaining is: do Student Bulls Club members get in an extra 15 minutes before the 30-minutes-early crowd? That’s a hell of a wait in the stands, but we do crazy things for sports.
