Late in the second quarter, D’Ernest Johnson rumbled off the left side for a 50-yard touchdown to give USF a 28-16 lead over San Jose State. It more than doubled D’Ernest’s previous career long run of 24 yards. But we’re burying the lede here.
TYRE MCCANTS HAS KILLED A MAN DEAD AT THE 20-YARD LINE.
My goodness.

We have an early candidate for "run of the year."@USFFootball now leads, 28-16. pic.twitter.com/RIWzRU4tj3
First the 236-pound McCants sprung D’Ernest with a key block at the line of scrimmage. Then he hustled down the field and absolutely rekt Andre Chachere, the Spartans’ best defensive player.
It’s not the first time McCants has done this. The man is a serial open-field killer:
Tyre McCants (@T_McCants8)....why'd you have to end that mans life on National TV??? https://t.co/8vjuAjpezg

Let’s also take a moment to admire D’Ernest’s dive for the pylon. First he made a nice stutter move at the 10 to get himself a little more room. Then he took off from almost the 5-yard line, managed to steady himself in midair after a San Jose State player tried to knock him out of bounds, and stretched the ball across the goal line before he hit the ground. It was a tremendous effort.
The Bulls lead 28-16 at halftime.
