The USF men’s soccer team announced the full slate of spring games Wednesday afternoon featuring the MLS’s New York Red Bulls, Chicago Fire, Philadelphia Union, and the USL’s Tampa Bay Rowdies.
USF begins the preseason with January 27th tilt with the Red Bulls at the Oldsmar Sports Complex at 10:30 in the morning (Yes, literally the same day as Gasparilla). The Red Bulls are becoming a staple of the USF preseason, playing games against USF in 2015 and 2016. Both games were won by NY, 4-0 and 3-1, respectively.
Next up: Chicago Fire at Corbett on February 3rd at 5:00 p.m.. Tickets will be on sale for the match through GoUSFBulls.com or at the gate. The Bulls played a memorable match against Chicago in the wind and rain in 2016. No word yet if international superstar Bastian Schweinsteiger will be playing or attending.
The third game is the game versus former Bull Marcus Epps and the Philadelphia Union reported earlier this week. The contest will be at the Joe DiMaggio Sports Complex in Clearwater on February 7th. Time has yet to be determined.
Finally, the annual fixture vs the Tampa Bay Rowdies returns on March 9th. From 2010 to 2016, the Bulls and Rowdies faced each other during the spring, with the Bulls earning draws in 2010 and 2014. The last meeting in 2016 saw once US soccer hopeful Freddie Adu score a brace against USF. The time and place of the game have yet to be determined, but will likely be played at USF or Al Lang Stadium in St. Pete.
Stay tuned for updates on times and places.
