Alexis Yetna Named American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week

More accolades for the walking double-double.

The American Athletic Conference announced Monday that redshirt freshman Alexis Yetna was selected as the Freshman of the Week for a second straight week.

The Paris, France native averaged 12.5 points and 12.0 rebounds per game while shooting a toasty 58.8 percent from the floor in wins over FIU and Alcorn State last week.

On Tuesday, Yetna registered nine points, 13 rebounds and three steals to help the Bulls to an 82-73 victory over the Panthers in Miami.

On Friday night, Yetna secured his league-leading fifth double-double of the season (16 points, 11 rebounds) and hauled in a career-best nine offensive rebounds in USF’s 83-44 romp of Alcorn State.

Redshirt junior Laquincy Rideau was named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll after scoring a season-high 28 points, grabbing seven rebounds and dishing off nine assists in the victory over FIU.

The West Palm Beach native also held the Panthers leading scorer Brian Beard to just four points on four free throws and 0-for-8 shooting from the field.

Winners of five straight games for the first time since 2007, USF will finish off the non-conference slate on Saturday at the Yuengling Center against Fairleigh Dickinson at 1 p.m.
