Hey y’all, it’s been a while since I’ve come out of the bullpen for something like this. Bear with me, I’m coming off the dome here.
So, in professional wrestling there’s a term called “killing the territory”. Just doing a quick Google search, there’s not really an official definition or anything, but it’s understood to mean whenever a promotion does something that absolutely kills their fan’s enthusiasm about said product. Lackluster shows, questionable booking decisions, these are some of the things that will leave your fans saying “what the hell was that?”
Anyway, on a totally unrelated note, USF is currently getting beaten down by BYU to open the season. Barring some voodoo fueled fourth-quarter comeback, this game is cooked. I mean, we probably anticipated this. BYU floated around as a 12-point favorite heading into the game and I think most people expected them to cover. But this sucks man.
I’m not going to argue about whether Jeff Scott should be fired or whether he needs more time or blah, blah, blah. Don’t care. I just want to have fun with this shit man. We’ve been beaten down as a fan base repeatedly since 2018 and it’s a huge downer when right out the gate in Week 1, you look up and bam, you’re already down 28-0 and the first quarter hasn’t even ended yet. You deny your fans something, anything to cling on to and it zaps everyone’s confidence moving forward. You’re killing the territory.
I don’t know, I’m probably just rambling at this point. I badly want this program to succeed and maybe they do figure it out down the line. I just want to have fun with this. Anyway, I’ll be right back on Twitter shitposting with the rest of you next week. Love you guys. Go Bulls.
