Let’s get the fun stuff out of the way. Former USF football player and coach Larry Scott is coming back to Tampa to face the Bulls. He played for USF between 1997-1999, and then coached from 2006-2012. Former Bull Lindsey Lamar is Howard’s wide receivers coach. He played for USF from 2009-2012 and was the 2010 Big East Special Teams Player of the Year. He then coached for the Bulls from 2015-2019. Bison defensive coordinator Troy Douglas was the DBs coach from 2006-2008. Vernon Hargreaves is the ST/DL coach for Howard and he coached for the Bulls from 2010-2012.

There, the warm and fuzzies are out of the way.

If Jeff Scott and the Bulls don’t lay the absolute smackdown on frankly a pretty bad FCS team, there’s going to be more questions about what Scott is doing in Tampa than there were after last week’s season opening debacle.

Scott has won three games as the head coach of the Bulls, and two of those wins were over FCS teams where they struggled to put their foot down and put them away. With the amount of talent allegedly amassed on both side of the ball, USF should have no problem putting up 40+ points and holding the Bison to under 17 points.

You want to prove you’re the guy for the job, and last week was just a blip on the radar of an otherwise resurgent season for the Bulls, it starts tomorrow. Get the calls in on time, be creative on offense, put your best players in a spot to do something fun.

Give the fans something to hope for.
