So when USF's football coach and USF's most famous non-graduate alumni got together last year...
We didn't think much of it, as the deep history between pro wrestling and Tampa can be looked at both ways by the local Chamber of Commerce.
But then this report from Josh Newberg at Bulls 24/7 indicated the Bulls decided to host many key recruits and commits this week at the Hulkster's Hogan's Beach down on the Causeway... well, we found our angle.
LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHIN' GORILLA MONSOON... THIS IS THE BIGGEST RECRUITING CLASS USF HAS EVER HAD!! NO CLASS WE'VE EVER HAD IS MORE IMPORTANT!! IN THE HISTORY OF COLLEGE SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT, THIS IS THE BIGGEST THING WE'VE EVER SEEN!!
Yup, we're going there. And we're doing it all the way through National Signing Day, just 14 days from today.
If you need to see where USF is presently, here's the updated commitment list from Bulls 24/7. And ignore that 25 scholarship limit as USF can have six kids enroll early and backdate them to last year (which JC transfer safety Jamie Byrd has already done). Right now there are 24 commits including Byrd, so there's room for seven more as the class can be as big as 31.
As of now the Bulls have the #1 class in the AAC, and the #40 class in the nation. Literally every single player in the class is listed as a 3 star currently except for Jefferson's Juwaun Brown who is a 2 star.
Here are some of the bigger story lines so far this week:
* Zach Hudson flips from Mizzou to USF.
The Sickles High kid decided he'd be "keeping it in the 813," and changed to becoming a Bull last night too. He also had an offer from NC State, and as an offensive tackle he can help fit into what Coach Taggart wants to do running the ball.
Is this a heel turn? No way! Show 'em how it's done you Olympic champion!!

* Deiondre Porter flips his commitment from USF to UF last night.
A 3-star prospect that had been a Bulls commitment forever, the Jefferson High product Porter chose a redshirt and to be organizational depth in the SEC. Shawn Michaels, your thoughts?

This one hurts, but when you're in the AAC sometimes the big boys are going to come in and poach you at the last minute. If the Bulls can't handle a little Sweet Chin Music from HBK every once in a while, they're not going to succeed for long in this league. Things like this are why depth is so important.
* Dual-threat QB Quinton Flowers commits to USF... and stays committed.
USF's luck at the QB position in recruiting has bordered on comical. Asiantii Woulard, Chase Litton, Deiondre Porter (who played QB in high school)... the list goes back seeming generations. But Flowers was a big get for the Bulls, and he stuck it out with us. Let's hope he gets a shot at the belt someday like The Innovator of Violence finally did.

Also begat the best Coach T Tweet of the year:
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>I just gave my my wife some Flowers and she said "you sure know how to pick em". GoBulls!!!! <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23DoSomething&src=hash">#DoSomething</a></p>— Willie Taggart (@CoachTaggart) <a href="https://twitter.com/CoachTaggart/statuses/391638545515167746">October 19, 2013</a></blockquote>

We'll have more on recruiting (as well as 'rasslin clips) over the next two weeks as Signing Day gets closer. Much of Coach T's success is going to be tied to the kids he can get on campus and enrolled on Fowler Ave. It's a space where is predecessor seemed to be sorely lacking, and one that seems to be improving by leaps and bounds already.
