Spot on 2013 Depth Chart: Not listed.
How did he come to USF: Swanson comes Lake Gibson High School in Lakeland and originally committed to LSU, then Florida, but both schools backed off due to academic concerns. After improving on his test scores, he committed to USF and ultimately qualified. Had other offers from USC, University of Miami, Pittsburgh, Purdue, and West Virginia.
"Kennard is a tough, hard-nosed player, who brings a lot of athleticism and physicality to our program," Willie Taggart said. "He will be a great asset to what we're trying to build on the offensive side of the ball. He was a young man who was passionate about USF and really wanted to be here, so we're excited to have him join this class."
Recruiting Ratings: Originally ranked as a three star defensive tackle, but was then ranked as high as the #2 fullback in the country by Rivals and #3 by 247.
Projected Playing Time In 2014: With both the #1 and #2 listed full backs gone from last and Swanson being as highly rated as he was, I would expect he will get a shot at the full time job.
Fun Fact: One of four Lakeland boys on the roster.
