Only Cameron Ruff Days Until USF Football

Today's player could be a long-term piece on the Bulls' offensive line.

gousfbulls.com

#74 C Cameron Ruff
Redshirt Sophomore, 6'4", 277 lbs.

Stats in 2014: Ruff played in two games, backing up Austin Reiter at center. He also made a spot start at left guard against Maryland.

Spot on Spring Depth Chart: Starting center ahead of Michael Galati.

How He Came to USF: From Tampa Jesuit. Originally committed to Skip Holtz, stayed committed to USF after the coaching change to Willie Taggart. He called USF his "dream offer" and stressed that he was committed to the school, not the coach. Had interest from Cincinnati, Syracuse, UConn, Purdue, Iowa State, and Duke.

Recruiting Rankings: Ruff received three stars by Rivals, 247, and Scout.

Projected Playing Time: If Ruff can beat out Galati for the starting spot, he'll likely take every snap. If Galati wins-- and that's not a preposterous idea, from what we've seen-- then Ruff is still valuable for his ability to play multiple spots on the line and should see playing time. At any rate, whoever wins this battle will be a key cog in USF's offensive line this season, and has pretty big shoes in fill in replacing Austin Reiter.

Here's an interview with Ruff after he officially signed with USF:
