Only Spencer Adkinson Days Until USF Football

This walk-on tight end has an interesting origin story.

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

#48 TE Spencer Adkinson
Sophomore, 6'3", 237 lbs.

Stats in 2014: Spencer did not see any playing time in 2014.

Spot on Spring Depth Chart: Not listed.

How He Came to USF: Spencer played both ways at Indian Rocks Christian High in Seminole, where he became infamous for a very, very strange punishment: in his school's rivalry game against Admiral Farragut, a referee ruled that a would-be game-tying two-point (hyphens!) conversion pass to Adkinson was incomplete. Adkinson protested and bumped the referee ("I realize I went out of my boundaries," he said). The Florida High School Athletic Association agreed, and slapped a vicious 365-day suspension on him.

All's well that ends well, I suppose-- Adkinson's suspension was overturned 363 days into the sentence, and he recorded 10 tackles and caught two passes for 50 yards in a win against Admiral Farragut. And then he walked on at USF! What a journey.

Recruiting Rankings: Adkinson was not rated by any major recruiting service.

Projected Playing Time: The Bulls are deep at tight end, and we won't be seeing as many two-tight end sets this season, so the chances of Adkinson seeing the field on offense are slim to none. Perhaps he can win himself some playing time on special teams.

Highlights: Sure, let's watch Spencer do some damage at both tight end and linebacker at Indian Rocks Christian.
