Willie Taggart Is The New Coach At Oregon

Thanks, Coach. We wish you well.

NCAA Football: Navy at South Florida Logan Bowles-USA TODAY Sports

According to reports, Willie Taggart has been named the new head coach at Oregon. Taggart leaves USF with an overall record of 24-25, building the Bulls up from 2-10 in 2013 to 10-2 this season and an invitation to the Birmingham Bowl.

As previously reported by SB Nation’s Steven Godfrey, the leading candidate to replace Taggart is Alabama offensive coordinator and former Tennessee and USC head coach Lane Kiffin. Kiffin’s former brother-in-law David Reaves is USF’s associate head coach and tight ends coach.

If you don’t know how to react this morning, you’re not alone. Taggart is only the second USF coach in a revenue sport to be hired away by another school (the first was Seth Greenberg in 2003). We’ll have a lot more to say about this development, but we all want to thank Taggart for his work in rebuilding USF football and all the fun we’ve had watching them these last two seasons. Good luck in Eugene, and we envy you getting to hang out with Puddles.
