Fun facts about Friday the 13th:

  • There is always at least one Friday the 13th in a calendar year, but never more than three. (This year has two - the other one is in October.)
  • It is possible to have a Friday the 13th in consecutive months. It is always February and March when it happens. This last occurred in 2015.
  • No one is exactly sure how Friday the 13th came to be considered unlucky. The most plausible explanations are typically from the Middle Ages and involve religious figures.
  • I think it’s nonsense.

But since we’re here, let’s ask questions about luck, superstition, and so on.

  1. Do you have any phobias? Do you do anything unusual to avoid them?
  2. Do you have any superstitions?
  3. What is the luckiest thing that has happened to you?
  4. What is the unluckiest thing that has happened to you?
  5. Do you buy into any old wives’ tales or urban legends? Which ones?
