As noted first by Corey Evans of Rivals.com, Emmanuel Okpomo from Oak Hill Academy has committed and signed with South Florida Bulls Men’s Basketball on Monday.
The signing is the second one of the 2020 cycle with four-star Caleb Murphy signing a few days prior.
C/F Emmanuel Okpomo
6’10”, 220 pounds
Oak Hill Academy, Mouth Of Wilson, VA
Recruiting Rankings (for now): NR by any Major Services
Other Notable Offers: UConn, Houston, Virginia Tech
Primary Recruiter: Tom Herrion
Okpomo was originally playing at Huntington in West Virginia before transferring to Oak Hill Academy at the beginning of the school year. Oak Hill Academy is one of the top prep programs in the country for men’s basketball, producing guys like Carmelo Anthony, Rod Strickland, and Kevin Durant.
His greatest asset is clearly his size, standing as 6’10, Okpomo will slot in seamlessly after senior Antun Maricevic graduates from the program this offseason. His wingspan sits at 7’7, and his stats show he is a force in the middle for rebounds and blocks. So far this season with Oak Hill Academy (7 games), he is averaging 6 rebounds per game, 15 blocks, and 9 steals.
“They love his ability to defend, switch on picks, they love his ability to rebound and they love his upside. He has a 7-foot-7 wingspan so they love his upside and where he’ll be with a couple of years of development. They think he’ll be very special for them.”
While his offense may be a bit behind his defense right now, it does not hinder how high Okpomo’s ceiling is.
Here are some highlights of new #USF men’s basketball signee Emmanuel Okpomo (6’10” F/C).
