It didn’t take long for Charlie Strong’s firing to reverberate on the recruiting trail as three-star Lake City Columbia wide receiver Marquez Bell reopened his recruitment less than hour after the news broke.

Bell was part of a trio of players from 6A power Columbia to verbally commit to USF’s 2020 class, the other two being three-star quarterback Jordan Smith and three-star linebacker Levontae Camiel.
The wideout put up big numbers during the Tigers’ run to the Region 1 semifinals this fall, hauling in 58 receptions for 1,126 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Bell’s 247 Composite rating is 0.8614, which made him the third-highest rated prospect in the class. According to both 247 and Rivals, he holds offers from a wide range of power five programs including Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Penn State and Ole Miss among others.
