USF starting QB Gerry Bohanon has been named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Watch List for the 2022 season, his second pre-season watch list after being named to the Davey O’Brien Watch List earlier this month.
The Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award is presented to the nation’s top quarterback who best displays character, while maintaining scholastic and athletic achievements. Last year’s winner was Kenny Pickett from Pittsburgh, who went on to be drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Golden Arm watch list features 76 quarterbacks, seven of which are in the American Athletic Conference (including Bohanon) and USF will face off against nine QBs who are on the watch list:
- Holton Ahlers (ECU)
- Davis Brin (Tulsa)
- D’Wan Mathis (Temple)
- Tanner Mordecai (SMU)
- Michael Pratt (Tulane)
- Clayton Tune (Houston)
- Anthony Richardson (Florida)
- Jaren Hall (BYU)
- Malik Cunningham (Louisville)
The Bulls open the season this Saturday, September 3rd against Jaren Hall and BYU at 4 p.m. on ESPNU.
