Only Mike Love Days Until USF Football Season

#98 on our countdown is part of the wide-open race for playing time at defensive end.

Glenn Beil-USA TODAY Sports

#98 DE Mike Love

Junior, 6'4", 260 lbs.

2015 Stats: Love finished the season with 10 tackles, 1.5 TFL, a quarterback hurry, and a pass breakup. He also sacked Everett Golson against Florida State for his only USF sack to date.

Position on Depth Chart: Love is currently third on the defensive end depth chart, behind Mike Livingstone (who redshirted last year) and Juwan Brown (a converted linebacker).

How He Came To USF: Love was a three-year starter at defensive end and linebacker at Clearwater's Countryside High School, and was named Pinellas County defensive player of the year in 2011 by the Tampa Bay Times. USF was always Love's first choice, even before he got an offer from them. Once the Bulls offered him a scholarship, he accepted over a number of suitors, like Nebraska, West Virginia, Louisville, Mississippi State and Cincinnati.

Recruiting Rankings: Both Rivals and 247 ranked Love as a low-three star prospect.

Projected Playing Time: There's a lot of opportunity at the right defensive end spot, and it's a little odd to see Love listed on the depth chart below two players who have really never played college football. He might have to have an impressive fall practice to be anything more than a spot player and potentially a special teamer.

Follow Him On... Well, we're not sure. We couldn't find Mike's Twitter or Instagram feeds, if he even has them. (We found a Twitter name we think he used in high school, but it's been deactivated.) There are quite a few people named Mike Love in the world, including a Beach Boy, so if you can track him down let us know.

Bonus Video: Here's Mike talking to the Tampa Bay Times' Home Team reporters back in 2012.
