From sources, USF views the CBI as an appropriate investment in the program’s development. USF is working with donors to make tickets free for students.
Taking a step forward with a 19-13 overall record this season, the program officially received its first postseason invitation since the magical NCAA Round of 32 team in 2012.
Their first-round opponent Stony Brook (24-8) finished the regular season as conference runner-ups before an upset loss to Binghamton in the first-round of the America East tournament kneecapped their chances at an NCAA or even an NIT bid. Just hours before on Sunday, it was announced that head coach Jeff Boals would be leaving to take over his alma mater at Ohio.
The tournament is single elimination until the finals, where the final two teams ill face each other in a best-of-three series on Apr. 1, 3 and 5 if necessary. North Texas defeated San Francisco in the tournament final last year.
