Stampeding The 2014 USF Football Roster - #60 DT Bruce Hector

We meet a player who is likely to see his first collegiate action in 2014.

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

#60 DT Bruce Hector
Redshirt Freshman, 6'2", 289 lbs

Stats in 2013: Hector took a redshirt year and didn't play in 2013.

Where He Was On the 2013 Depth Chart: Not listed.

How Did He Come to USF: Bruce is a local product, hailing from Robinson High School in Tampa where he played on both the offensive and defensive lines.

Recruiting Rankings: 247 had Hector as a low three-star prospect, while Rivals gave him two stars. He committed to Skip Holtz early in the recruiting process over an array of MAC schools including Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green and Buffalo. Bruce took a couple visits after Holtz was fired, but wound up getting on the bus and reaffirming his commitment to Willie Taggart.

Projected Playing Time: The Bulls have some good returning players at defensive tackle in Elkino Watson, Todd Chandler, James Hamilton and Derrick Calloway, so playing time is likely to be sparse. Still, Bruce appears to be on the right track. He added almost 20 pounds during his redshirt year and should have chances to contribute in the future.

Fun Fact: Bruce's dream schools during the recruiting process were Florida State, USF and UCF. How's that for a Big Three?*
