Stampeding the 2014 USF Football Roster - # 18 QB Evan Wilson

Next up is a QB from Sarasota that just finished his redshirt season.

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

#18 QB Evan Willson
Redshirt Freshman, 6'2", 195 lbs.

Stats in 2013: Evan took a redshirt in 2013.

Spot on Pre-Season Depth Chart: He is not on the two-deep pre-season depth chart.

How did he come to USF: Evan signed as a preferred walk-on last season. He's a native of Sarasota, and was awarded all-state Class 2A QB. He threw for over 2,600 yards and 20 TDs at Out-of-Door Academy.

Recruiting Rankings: Wilson did not rated by any Rivals or 247, and didn't receive any scholarship offers.

Projected Playing Time in 2014: Although he had a decent showing in the spring game, going 4-6 for 61 yards, Wilson will be pretty far down the depth chart this season. He's competing with Quinton Flowers and Tommy Eveld for third string. But he's young and will still have three years of eligibility after this season.

But Coach Taggart had good things to say about Evan after the spring game

"Like Bench, Evan Wilson left a mark in the spring game by throwing a touchdown pass to Zach Benjamin and the redshirt freshman continues to impress the coaching staff this fall.

"All he does is make plays constantly, play after play, and I think today we’ll probably give him a couple of reps with the ones. He’s come along," Taggart said."

Fun Fact: Wilson also trained at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, which has a football program led by for FSU and NFL QB Chris Weinke.
