After picking up 11 commits for their 2017 recruiting class in the last week of July, the Bulls have continued their torrid pace in August. On Tuesday USF landed defensive end Darrien Grant from Bradenton Southeast High School, the same school as former Bulls great Mike Jenkins.

As a junior in 2015, the 6-foot-4, 220-pound Grant finished with 42 tackles, 11 1/2 TFL, 4 1/2 sacks and eight hurries, helping Southeast make the state playoffs after only winning one game the previous year. Grant hasn’t been rated by any of the recruiting sites yet, but he had offers from Boston College, Duke, NC State, and the Naval Academy.

Here are his junior highlights:

Four-star QB/ATH Bruce Judson Jr. had a personal hand in getting Grant to USF, and since he committed, Judson has been on the recruiting trail hard. Let’s hope it continues through February.

Grant is on Twitter at @Thecharlie_wolf, where among others, he follows the House of Representatives Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, Coldplay, and Katy Perry. If you want to see him in action, Southeast plays at Leto High School Friday, August 19.
