ESPN’s Brett McMurphy reports that the Bulls will head to Silicon Valley next year instead of DeKalb, Illinois for a non-conference football game.
USF, San Jose State add home/home series; 2017 at San Jose State, 2018 at USF

By adding series with San Jose State in 2017-18, South Florida is moving 2017 road game at Northern Illinois to 2025

The NIU game was scheduled for September 9, 2017, but we don’t know yet if the game against the Spartans will be on the same date. USF is listed in SJSU’s media guide under 2017 future opponents, but no date is given.
The Spartans went 6-7 in 2015, including 4-4 in the Mountain West, and defeated Georgia State 27-16 in the Cure Bowl.
Mark Harlan confirmed the news on Twitter:
Yes they do...will be fun to go west next year. We will announce a few more games next week...thanks! https://t.co/w11Ut82huB

As for the 2025 Northern Illinois game, that’ll be played on the weekend of oh who the hell cares we’ll buy it out with our buckets of Big XII money.
So today USF traded in a long weekend trip to Illinois for one in the prettiest parts of the country.
Winner winner, chicken dinner.
UPDATE: McMurphy’s report was wrong. USF will play at SJSU in 2017, but the return will be in 2020.
