USF Men’s Basketball has announced the hiring of former UAB and E. Tennessee State head coach Murry Bartow as the Bulls new assistant to replace Oliver Antigua.

Bartow had a record of 224-165 with the Buccaneers, with four conference championships, six postseason appearances and three NCAA Tournament bids. While in Birmingham, he was 103-83 after replacing his legendary father Gene as head coach, with one NCAA berth.

Also this happened when he was at Birmingham. And it’s still quite possibly our favorite USF road trip story ever. As Murry said himself, “This ain’t Tampa. Do you understand me??” Just go read it because now it’s basically the funniest thing this blog has ever written.

We look forward to giving Bartow a very good ribbing about this up on his arrival.
