#16 WR Donovan Geter
Redshirt Freshman, 6’6", 200 lbs.
2015 Stats: Donovan took a redshirt season in 2015.
Position on Depth Chart: Geter was not listed on the depth chart following spring practice.
How He Came To USF: Donovan lettered in football, basketball, and track at Newsome High School in Lithia. In his senior year for the Wolves, he caught 12 passes for 178 yards and three touchdowns as a wide receiver/tight end. MaxPreps says he also made five tackles in a game against Durant, but that doesn’t seem likely. Where would a 6’6", 195 pound player line up on defense? Donovan walked onto USF’s football team last summer.
Here is Geter’s highlight reel from Newsome. You might be able to see the traits that led to him being described as "a violent blocker and completely unselfish" by Big County Preps.
Recruiting Rankings: Geter was not ranked by the major recruiting sites.
Projected Playing Time: Geter is lining up as a receiver at practice and finished one recent session with a 60-yard touchdown pass from Chris Oladokun. However, with so many usable receivers on USF’s roster, Geter probably won’t get much time there this year. I have absolutely no evidence to support this thought, but I do wonder if a conversion back to tight end might be in his future. He has the height for that position and USF has a need there, although Donovan would need to bulk up (if it’s even possible to put 40 or 50 pounds on his frame) to be effective.
