USF added a big target from east Tennessee to its 2020 recruiting haul as three-star wide receiver Holden Willis has decided to come down to Tampa and join Jeff Scott’s program. Bulls247’s Will Turner has told The Daily Stampede that Willis be a tight end for the Bulls.
WR Holden Willis

Greenback School, Greenback, TN
Recruiting Rankings: Three-star by 247 (0.8043 Composite Score) and Rivals.
Other Notable Offers: Tulane, UMass, Jacksonville State, Tennessee (PWO)
At 6’4”, 204 pounds, Willis vaulted himself into the Volunteer State record books as a senior last fall. The Knoxville area prospect hauled in 73 receptions for 1,722 yards and a TSSAA state record 28 touchdowns while leading Greenback to an appearance in the Class 1A state championship game. Also serving as the Cherokee’s punter, he averaged 40.7 yards per punt and pinned seven down inside the opponent’s 20.
For his efforts, he was given the state’s highest honor by being tabbed as the 2019 Tennessee Titans Mr. Football for Class 1A in Tennessee.
While not the fastest receiver on film, he has an ability to run through traffic and his size gives him a clear advantage in 1-on-1’s. He also showed a great ability to block on the edge, making him a valuable asset on potential screen plays for the USF offense.
On the recruiting front, Willis carried a handful of offers from FBS and FCS programs while also holding a preferred walk-on opportunity from nearby Tennessee. Strongly considering walking on with the Vols, he instead opted to join up with Coach Scott, who notably recruited and developed the now NFL-bound WR Tee Higgins out of nearby Oak Ridge, TN.
