With less than a month to go until National Signing Day on February 5, three-star Port Orange Atlantic linebacker Ty Berrong decided to re-open his recruitment and decommit from USF on Tuesday.

With offers from the likes of Florida, Purdue and Nebraska, Berrong decided to join USF’s 2020 recruiting class back in August and immediately became their highest rated defensive prospect.
Guiding Atlantic to one of its best seasons in school history last fall, Berrong compiled a team-high 83 tackles (24 for loss), 9.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery as a senior.
The Volusia County product opted to not sign during the early signing period in December and after wavering back and forth on his commitment to the Bulls over the next few weeks, ultimately decided to leave the class entirely to start fresh.
According to Chris Boyle of the Daytona Beach News Journal, FAU, Virginia Tech, Navy and others have reached out to him in the aftermath of his decommitment.
